"Wildflowers of Western Australia botanical plate" I is an original scratchboard.
It is the first Wildflower Botanical illustration featured in a series of wildflower botanical plates. This particular botanical plate features the first 61 species of common and endangered native species of wildflower that grow in Western Australia. Each wildflower has been numbered and named accordingly.
The technique of scratchboard involves a fine carving tool where the surface is scratched and then coloured ink has been applied onto the top. Various layers have been scratched and coloured at least 3 times to achieve the desired look.
